About Fire Chief Stewart

Damon V. Stewart became the City of Collinsville Fire Chief on October 1, 2021. He served as the department's Assistant Fire Chief for 17 years and spent 13 years with Gainesville Fire / Rescue prior to becoming the City of Collinsville’s first fulltime paid Fire Chief. A native Collinsville resident, Chief Stewart joined the Collinsville Fire Department in 1990. During his 30 plus years of service, he has held the ranks of Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain and Assistant Fire Chief / Fire Marshal. He brings extensive education and experience of the department into his role.

Chief Stewart’s career has been strongly focused on firefighter training and departmental training program management. Chief Stewart is well respected by both firefighters and officers of the area Departments throughout north Texas and is known for his expertise in Special Operations and Training.  Chief Stewart’s top priority is health and safety, while improving the apparatus fleet for the Department. His plans are to work with the Mayor, City Council, and Firefighters to do everything possible to make sure all of our personnel go home safely to their families and live a long & healthy life.

Chief Stewart has developed a Strategic Plan through 2027 that addresses the future of the community and fire department. The Strategic Plan includes six key initiatives:

  • Comprehensive Training and Development
  • Technology and Communications
  • Assess and Prioritize Fire Department Programs and Needs
  • Management of Human Resources
  • Analysis and Management of Data
  • Emergency Service Delivery and Deployment Model
